Saturday April 12th

Winterbourne United 3-2 Purton

Bourne were 3-1 up at the break after going a goal down when Andy Philpott netted for the visitor's in the 5th minute with a nice left foot volley. Bourne recovered and scored three goals in a 13 minute spell with Mitch Tippins equalising in the 27th minute. Five minutes later James Mainstone put Bourne ahead and Justin Bishop made it 3-1 five minutes from the break. An own goal ten minutes into the second period completed the scoring . On a sad note for this club Trowbridge was likely to be Ben Rhodes' last game for Winterbourne, as he has now returned to his submarine. Ben is also planning a move to Plymouth, in the near future to be closer to his base. A lot of you One West strikers will be breathing a sigh of relief as you will know Ben to be an uncompromising lighthouse of a centre half. Please know though that he is total gentleman and has played a huge part in our recent success. Ben leads by example and has turned out for all of our sides at some point this season and of course was our captain in our unforgettable title win two seasons ago.

Winterbourne United Under-10's celebrate their championship triumph at the Rec on Sunday morning, after over coming their counterparts from Cadbury Heath with a fine 7-0 aggregate win.
